Partnering with the Jack Leslie Campaign
I am pleased to announce that the Jack Leslie Campaign, Kaya Gallery, and TMW Photography have partnered to produce a framed print of the iconic Plymouth Argyle statue.
Jack Leslie was a professional football player, playing for Plymouth Argyle in the 1920’s. In 1925 he was called up to the England squad, which would have made him the first black footballer to play for England. The offer was quickly rescinded, In the words of Jack himself “They must have forgot I was a coloured boy”.
In 2022 the FA awarded Jack a posthumous honorary cap, and the statue celebrating his achievements was unveiled outside of Plymouth Argyle’s stadium, Home Park.
For a much more in-depth account of Jack’s story, please visit the Jack Leslie Campaign’s website here.
The Jack Leslie Campaign, after having funded the statue of Jack himself, now raise funds to teach the story of Jack, and celebrate diversity within Football.
I was proud to be commissioned to photograph the incredible statue, and this has led to a limited edition run of framed prints. Each print is numbered and signed and included a donation to the Jack Leslie Campaign to aid in their important work.
The print is available exclusively through Kaya Gallery, on the Plymouth barbican.
